Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring

 Welcome Dusty friends!

It's finally March and spring is in sight. This winter felt extra long, and thanks to the pandemic and extreme weather conditions, the longing for spring with more sun and warmth is now especially great.

I was inspired to create a mixed media layout. The girl enjoys the sun, a soul full of sunshine,

that is exactly what everyone here needs most urgently right now.

I used some Maja Design background papers, cutting dies, a sunray stencil and

suitable amazing Dusty Attic chipboards.

Beginning of autumn

 Hello creative friends!

Autumn has arrived and the leaves are slowly falling from the trees.

A wonderful season that inspired me to create a leaf whirl with punched out motifs and chipboards.

 I selected the format 24 x 30 cm.

Tips & Tricks

firstly I draw a curved line with a pencil,

then I chose a wildflower stencil for the background

along the drawn lines  now stamped with waterproof ink pad

and matching autumn stamps (Stampers Anonymous)

now I punched out a lot of leaves and branches, together with some matching chipboards

and butterflies this resulted in a 3d living leaf whirl

Favourite Moments DT Dusty Attic August Moodboard

Welcome Dusty Attic friends!

Now it is my turn to feature a layout using the
beautiful Dusty Attic Moodboard for August.

I was inspired from the natural colours which reminds me on forest, water and sunshine.
So I chose a photo from a beautiful and relaxed hiking tour through the Saxon Switzerland National Park.

How I begun

I used a background paper from Maja Design. Firstly I primed the page with Clear Gesso. Then some stencils with white Modeling paste. After drying time I always love to work with brushes and diluted acrylic paints in various shades suitable to the Moodboard colours.

I'm a big fan of this very natural looking grass clusters, branches and wildflowers.
I painted with acrylic colours and chose for the wildflowers a dark green mixed with a little bit black and finally highlighted with white in dry brush technique.

Firstly primed with a Metallic Acrylic paint 'Dark Patina' (DecoArt),
at the bottom edge painted with some brush strokes and black paint for more contrast,
so it looks like a meadow silhouette.
In upper part with adiluted lighter green tone onto some places.

Survival package DT Dusty Attic Moodboard

Welcome creative friends!

Today a new inspiration for our June Moodboard by Dusty Attic.

Do you know this??

It's always difficult to find the right gift for a man. I was looking for something fun and practical for Father's day. Then I came up with the idea of packing a survival bag with everything that makes you happy and useful on that day.

Because it's a gift bag for a man I only chose mainly the darker version of colours  from the June Moodboard.

To enter the challenge just add your own take in the comments section of the Dusty FANattics Facebook page (so easy to enter) this is for your chance to win one of two amazing chipboard packs.

I used a craft paper bag and some papers from Maja Design for the background design.

I hope I could inspire you

to take time again for the beautiful things in life!

Love is in the air - DT Dusty Attic

WElcome creative friends!

May is known here to be the best month to get married.
But in these difficult times it's not always easy connected with many difficult decisions,
 many celebrations are postponed.
So I needed a little joyful cheering present for a dog fan just like me.
I created a mixed media collage in grunge style,
which will be glued on a canvas and used as a new wall decoration.

a friendly bright sunshine (stencil from DecoArt)
added with white Modeling Paste and highlighted with golden wax creme

the edges were decorated with white crackling paste applied unevenly with a palette knife
and then stamped with a texture stamp and brown Archival inkpad

for the lettering I used a special dark blue embossing powder 'Salted Navy Enamel' from Emerald Creek

afterwards I used golden and brown wax cream and finally everything
was painted over again in dry brush technique with white gesso

Happy crafting!

Playing Dogs

Hello creative friends!

Today a new layout which reminds me on a wonderful summer time at the beach.
We were often at the dog beach and all darlings were there totally enthusiastic
 and fully in their element.

some close up's

I have used some gorgeous new release dog chippies
to complete my natural embellishing of the layout.

One of my favourite techniques to painting chipboards is  to use the ombre effect.

I begun with a dark blue acrylic paint, then a middle blue and a very softly blue shades
The colours should be similar in strength to achieve the ombre look,
apply the colours one after the other and blur with a wet brush.

a base coat with white acrylic paint to keep colors bold is always recommended

and also did a little dry brushing of white gesso over the top

used Dusty Attic products

with a simple frame the layout gets a face
and can be used as a new home decoration on the wall

Many thanks for your visit!

Happy crafting!

GD Minialbum Makers - Denim Friends

Welcome everyone!

It's a big honour to be invited at Minialbum Makers
and I'm very happy about this.

I'm a handicraft enthusiast with passion since my childhood, crafting makes me happy :-)!

It is a wonderful relaxation and balm for the soul, it's the little things in life that makes you happy and I love to share this joy and want to encourage my friends and all the others to try new ideas.

I was inspired to create a mixed media album in denim look, washed out and not as neat, just like a really good pair of jeans. I have used some of my favorite collections for my minialbum, the Denim & Friends and Denim & Girls collection. I am absolutely in love with the delicate blue colours and designs of this papers.

  Basic materials:

Eileen Hull Journal die

Maja Design Paper collection: Denim and Friends, Denim and Girls

denim leftovers from an old jeans trousers

Want to see how they are made the greyboard cover?

Here I have some photos from the making.

1.    I started by applying a coat of white crackle paint

          (DecoArt) on the background

     2.        I used a acrylic paint mixture of blue shades together

            with a Chalkboard Glimmer

            Mist  (Boogie Board- Tattered Angels)

spray desired areas with water then drop Glimmer

            Mist onto the wet areas

3. + 4. I applied Dimensional effects, a paintable texture

paste from DecoArt using two stencils

5.        after drying I highlighted the dimensional effects with

            a metallic finish wax

           (Metallic Lustre 'Chanpagne Ice')

6.       I thought it would be a cool idea and very suitable to

          my theme 'Denim and Friends'

when I used  origin denim fabric and so

I created a sailboat with two leftovers from an old

jeans, a wooden skewer works as sailing mast.
